Built from real gaps, real conversations, and a clear need for something better
The Neurodivergent Coaches Academy was created in response to a pattern that could no longer be ignored.
Across communities, especially in rural and under resourced areas, individuals and families were navigating systems that felt complex, delayed, and difficult to access. Support often came too late, and those closest to the person such as teachers, support workers, and families were left trying to respond without the tools or guidance they needed.
The issue was not a lack of care.
It was a lack of clarity, connection, and practical understanding.
Too often, people were being misunderstood.
And when understanding is missing, support becomes inconsistent, reactive, and at times ineffective.
The Neurodivergent Coaches Academy was built to address this gap.
It focuses on strengthening the capability of the everyday workforce, the people already walking alongside neurodivergent individuals, by providing practical knowledge, language, and tools that can be applied in real time.
This is not about replacing existing services.
It is about strengthening what already exists around them.
Because when understanding improves, outcomes improve for individuals, for families, and for the systems supporting them.

Grounded in lived experience, driven by connection and clarity
Sandy Gurney is the founder of the Neurodivergent Coaches Academy and the driving force behind its practical, human centred approach.
Her work is shaped by lived experience, deep listening, and a unique ability to recognise patterns across people, services, and systems. Through real conversations and hands on experience, Sandy developed a clear understanding of what truly supports neurodivergent individuals , and where things often break down.
She is known for her ability to create trust quickly, to sit in the “in between” spaces where people feel unsure, and to bring clarity where there has been confusion.
Rather than approaching neurodivergence from a purely clinical or theoretical lens, Sandy focuses on what works in everyday life , in homes, classrooms, workplaces, and communities.
Her approach is practical, respectful, and grounded in the belief that small shifts in understanding can lead to significant, lasting change.
The Academy reflects this philosophy , offering tools and insights that are not only meaningful, but immediately usable.

Creating a future where understanding comes first. The vision of the Neurodivergent Coaches Academy is to create a future where understanding is no longer a barrier to support.
A future where neurodivergent individuals are recognised, respected, and supported in ways that reflect how they experience the world.
At the centre of this vision is a capable and confident workforce , across education, health, and community settings , equipped with the skills to respond early, effectively, and with consistency.
The Academy is working towards:
-Earlier support for individuals and families
-Increased confidence across frontline roles
-Stronger alignment between services and community needs
-Practical tools embedded into everyday environments
-A shift towards support that is proactive, not reactive
In rural and under resourced communities, this shift has the potential to be transformative. Because when understanding is shared, it spreads.
And when capability is built locally, it lasts.
This is about creating long term change , not just for individuals, but for the systems and communities that surround them.
